I’ve had the worst luck with anything related to DJI Fly. I’ve heard it’s better for iOS (and you can download it directly from the App Store instead of having to side load it).

We’re you ever able to get the issue sorted out?

If the Houthis can hit UAE and Saudi Arabia from Yemen, it’s totally plausible that our enemies could hit somewhere in the US. The drones they use are pretty sophisticated (almost state actor level) but they still have a minimal radar cross section (compared to a manned aircraft).

While our air defense system is robust, it wouldn’t be impossible for someone to launch a drone from Mexico or an offshore location and hit the mainland.

I haven’t had a chance to pick one up yet but I think I’m going to pick up a Fly More. I like the Cine Premium but I don’t need the ProRes or 1TB HDD onboard.

I do wish I could buy the controller separately but I can’t justify the $1,100…is it worth it?

So, looks like it’s finally here. At only $1,300, I’m really thinking about pulling the trigger on this if I end up getting a stimulus check 🙂 Otherwise, I might have to wait a while…

    What do you think?

I’ve been playing with Kittyhawk and have been happy so far. Seems like there are way more features in there than just LAANC (like flight logging) but I’m not using those just yet.

For now, my stack is Kittyhawk for LAANC, UAV Forecast and Windy for weather, and Skywatch for insurance.

This thing is pretty amazing! 120min flight time + VTOL could be a huge step up for mapping and inspection. I wonder how easily it can switch from fixed wing to hover mode and what impact that has on endurance. Surely it can’t hover for 120min.

Are you looking to get into home inspection or insurance adjuster type jobs? If so, you’ll probably need to get certified in that specific field. I think I remember @joelmooredfw posting something about being an insurance adjuster/inspector…He might be a good resource.

That seems pretty ridiculous. While this doesn’t impact me directly, I know several ‘at risk’ people who are still trying to minimize their exposure to COVID.

I wonder if the FAA is going to mandate certain sanitization standards for PSI testing centers to keep people safe.

    Thanks for the response!

I looked at Verifly, Skywatch, and a few other local brokers and ended up going with SkyWatch based on what I read here as well as other Facebook groups.

It was super easy to set up the monthly coverage and the app is pretty user friendly. I haven’t had to add an additional insured yet, but it looks like that will be pretty easy too. Now I just need to upload my flight logs to see if I can get a discount…better find some of my ‘safest’ flights.

Does anyone know what kinds of things they look at when trying to determine if a flight is ‘safe’ or not for the discount?

Awesome, thanks! I just shared this info with my friend. Would the Drone Academy Recurrent Knowledge Course help him prepare for this online exam?
